My name is Haneya Hasan Zuberi. I grew up in Lahore, Pakistan. Lahore is a thriving metropolis of over 8 million people. It is an ancient city of gardens and kings now marked by Mughal ruins, shrines, bouganvillea-creepered bungalows, crowded bazaars, street food vendors and American fast-food chains. Boiling hot in the summers and moderately chilly in the winters, Lahore is a city of dreamers, writers, poets, businessmen, food lovers, beggars, and romantics.
Writing is my true love. I am fascinated with words and how we can play with them to write stories.
When I am not working, I am reading the latest news, keeping pace with the constantly changing world and it’s politics. The world around me fascinates me. I find inspirations in everyday life lessons and find pleasure in the simplest of interactions with strangers. A good conversation can easily make my day. A nice, warm cup of chai is usually all I need to get through the tougher ones.
I have a bachelors degree in International Relations and History from Ohio Wesleyan University and a masters in Journalism from Columbia University.
I have lived and reported in Lahore, Delaware and New York. I am currently based in Toronto.
